Lewis Mezgebe

Lewis Mezgebe

It is with great sorrow that we just learnt about the passing away of Lewis Mezgebe in Ethiopia. Lewis died last Friday, February 10, 2012 and his funeral is being arranged and will be buried in Addis Ababa this coming Friday, February 17, 2012. His family is expected to travel from London to attend his funeral.

Lewis worked for Ethiopian Airlines for about 20 years in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in various capacities in the Planning Department. He then moved first to London, United Kingdom , where he lived for several years before moving to the United States. He joined EAFEA here in Washington, D.C.

Lewis has been a member of EAFEA for a long time and was an active member of the Association. He moved away from our region about a year ago, and he was in Ethiopia when this tragedy struck.

For members who want to express their condolences to his wife, Asnaketch and his children, the family phone contact has been emailed to all EAFEA members.

Kibour Ayichew
President

A prayer service has been arranged by Ms. Frehiwot Haile for Ato Lewis Mezgebe at Debre Hail Kedus Gabriel Church which is located at 4100 Illinois Ave. NW, Washington DC.this coming Sunday, February 19, 2012. Ato Lewis was a member of the church and the church committees knew him very well and have gracefully agreed to conduct the prayer service ceremony.
Any members who may wish to attend the service are encouraged to do so. We understand the usual time of service would start around 6 to 7 am in the morning.
